Egyptologist Mark Lehner is renowed for his extensive work on the Giza Plateau and he has dedicated much of his professional life to the study of ancient Egyptian civilization, with particular focus on the pyramids and Sphinx. One of Mark´s distinctive achievements is his comprehensive mapping of the Giza Plateau. Since 1984, he has led the Giza Plateau Mapping Project (GPMP), which provided detailed and accurate maps of the area. One of Mark´s most significant accomplishments is the field school program, launched ba the AERA in 2005 with the goal of training and preparing young Egyptian archaeologists to explore their history using scientific archaeologiical methodologies. Mark has authored several books and numerous scholarly articles. To this Festschrift contributed 25 famous Egyptologists.
